Luca George was born in Brighton in 1990. His playful, humorous and performative work explores narratives that situate romanticism and myth within the everyday. Across sculpture, installation, video, drawing, writing and performance he incorporates themes of authenticity, authorship, collective anxiety and the uncanny. Alongside his physical practice his deliberately misleading use of Instagram serves as a constant reminder that things are not always as they seem online.
His work has been exhibited and performed internationally at institutions including, Milleu, Bern; Mischiefs, Stockholm; Gallery Gallery, Antwerp; Tate Britain, London; Science Museum, London; Palazzo Fontana, Venice; CCA, Glasgow; Workplace Gallery, Gateshead. He received a BA from The Glasgow School of Art and an MA at The Royal College of Art and supports his practice as an artist through his work as an art fabricator, art technician and artist assistant.
